Derwent Retreat is a fully equipped house situated on Stony point in historic Austins Ferry 15 minutes from Hobart. It has some of the best views in the state with a Panorama stretching from Mt Wellington in the south to Mt Direction to the east and north to the Quoin and beyond. The area is surrounded by parks and steeped in history.

To get there you drive through James Austin park where James Austin ran the first ferry in Tasmania and his house which was built between 1813 and 1820 still stands.

Derwent retreat is located on a point to the north end of the park and you drive through the parking area next to the local yacht club to get to it.
The property is fully furnished, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, barbecue, towels, linen, TV, etc. It sleeps eight people and one baby and all rooms have majestic views of the river and Mt Wellington.

The property has a modern fully equipped kitchen with microwave, hotplates, stove and fridge. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer. On the balcony there is a gas barbecue and second dining table and chairs. All linen and crockery are provided and there is a TV, stereo etc. central heating or wood stove for warmth, a local call only telephone, wireless internet for business and large garden with many natural rock features and small basketball hoop for relaxation.

Derwent Retreat is is surrounded by water or parks and located a short drive or walk away through Austin Park to a public launching ramp and yacht club. It has a large garden with many natural rock features.

Derwent Retreat is an ideal Hobart base for business or pleasure, only a short drive from the Brooker Highway and close to major business and tourist attractions such as Moorilla, Cadburys, Alpenrail, Bonorong Park, Richmond, Salmon Ponds and the Derwent valley. Claremont Golf and Bowls Clubs are both only a couple of kilometres away. Public transport is easily accessed and shops are less than half a kilometre away. A Woolworths-Safeway Shopping Centre is one kilometre away. All main rooms have wonderful views of the Derwent River and Mount Wellington.
